Mr. Boyer retired in 2008 as Manager, Human Resources and Safety, Nissan Technical Center-Arizona. He is a highly experienced human resources and safety practitioner with a diverse background in these professions. John is currently an instructor for Arizona Chapter National Safety Council and is authorized by the U.S. Dept of Labor/ OSHA to teach their 10 and 30 hour safety programs.
John was the Staffing Manager for Nissan when it established its Michigan Technical Center in 1988. He managed the hiring of 350 engineering employees in two years to launch this new company. Mr. Boyer then started the compensation and benefits department where he developed a leading edge competency-based reward system, which is unique in automotive engineering. He was also extensively involved in selection of contract labor providers, and oversight management of the contract labor process.
Mr. Boyer is highly trained and experienced in work place safety, including the areas of industrial hygiene, with an emphasis in automotive chemicals. He was also a team member on test driver safety and incident investigation. Prior to his work with Nissan, Mr. Boyer worked for the Ford Motor Company in various human resources roles. This experience was a blend of manufacturing, international operations, finance, marketing, with a major emphasis in product engineering. Functionally, he operated in recruiting, compensation, employee relations and technical training.
