The National Safety Council started the defensive driving movement over 30 years ago. Currently,
classes are taught in every state in the nation and in 15 foreign countries. Defensive Driving Courses offer excellent opportunities to learn the basics of safer driving, discover potentially dangerous habits, and review collision-prevention techniques.
Arizona drivers cited for a minor traffic violation may be eligible to enroll in a National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course. If completed, the citation is dismissed and no points are placed on the driving record. Points on a driving record may increase insurance rates. Arizona law limits attendance for ticket dismissal to once every 24 months, from violation date to violation date.
ACNSC offers Defensive Driving Courses statewide* as well as on-line. To check your eligibility and register, or for more information on defensive driving for dismissal of traffic citations or call 602-222-3360 or 800-293-0112.
* Statewide locations include: Douglas, Flagstaff, Payson, Pinetop/Show Low, Sierra Vista, Tucson, Williams, and Yuma. In Maricopa County classes are presented in Ahwatukee, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Fountain Hills, Litchfield Park, Mesa, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe.
