The Howard Pyle Award
|
Since 1980, Arizona Chapter National Safety Council has recognized truly outstanding contributors in the area of safety through its annual Howard Pyle Safety Award.
The late Howard Pyle, former governor of the State of Arizona, served 15 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Safety Council. Throughout his varied and distinguished career he promoted the need for safety in America and furthered the cause of accident prevention before the U.S. Congress and throughout the nation. After serving as Governor of our state, Howard Pyle went to Washington D.C. as Dwight D. Eisenhower's assistant. He became so successful as the President's specialist on matters of accident prevention that the National Safety Council began trying to entice him away to become our National President. As the administration began winding down, we were finally successful and for 15 years the nation's safety movement enjoyed the Governor's leadership. After returning to Arizona, Governor Pyle continued to serve safety as a member of our Board of Directors until his death.
Recognize and honor that key safety person or project by nominating them for the prestigious 2005 Howard Pyle Safety Award.
