Description:

Surviving an OSHA Inspection

Summary:

Being prepared, knowing what to expect, and how to respond when OSHA shows up for an unannounced inspection are key to avoiding common mistakes made during the inspection process.

Description:

The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 gives OSHA inspectors the authority to perform unannounced inspections.  While maintaining a safe and healthful workplace is an important aspect of surviving an OSHA inspection, not being prepared, or not knowing how to respond during the inspection process can be a costly mistake.

The Arizona Chapter National Safety Council is partnering with Safety Help Today to provide this course.  Participants will hear from the experts who work with OSHA and employers during and after the inspection process.  Topics covered will include:

·         Common events and mistakes that could trigger an OSHA inspection

·         National and local OSHA emphasis programs

·         Rights and responsibilities during and after the OSHA inspection

·         The OSHA inspection process and procedures that must be followed

·         Common hazards and violations identified during the OSHA inspection

·         OSHA Violations -- Willful, Serious, Other Than Serious, De Minimis, Failure to Abate, and Repeat

·         Cooperative strategies and how to work with OSHA to avoid citations
