Lockout/Tagout

Summary:

Workers performing service or maintenance on machinery and equipment may be exposed to injuries from the unexpected energization, startup of the machinery or equipment, or release of stored energy in the equipment.  In this course participants will learn practices and procedures required to disable machinery or equipment and to prevent the release of potentially hazardous energy.

Description:

OSHA Lockout/Tagout regulations requires employers to adopt and implement practices and procedures to shut down equipment, isolate it from its energy source(s), and prevent the release of potentially hazardous energy while maintenance and servicing activities are being performed.  Workers shall be trained on the purpose and function of energy control programs and the safe application, usage, and removal of energy controls.  

The Arizona Chapter National Safety Council is partnering with Safety Help Today to provide this Lockout/Tagout course.  Participants will receive training pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 requirements.

This course will consist of formal classroom presentation and practical demonstration designed to meet OSHA training requirements.  It will cover:

  • OSHA Regulations
  • Purpose of a Lockout/Tagout Program
  • Lockout/Tagout Program Elements
  • Types of Hazardous Energy
  • Methods of Controlling Hazardous Energy
  • Detecting Hazardous Conditions
  • Identify Lockout/Tagout Devices
  • Responsibilities of the Authorized Employee

Participants will receive an official certificate of completion.
